What kind of food will I eat in Egypt? Serious question if you are going to be there for any length of time. 14 years ago I went on my first Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan with 25 other Irish people. I can safely say ‘we ate our way through the cruise!’ Every one of us was amazed and delighted at the wonderful array of food presented to us at every single meal – breakfast, lunch and dinner. The chefs loved us because we could not help but be very loud in our appreciation. We cleaned our plates and asked for more at every meal. By the end of the cruise we were giving the chefs and waiters a round of applause.
I am delighted to be able to say that time has not changed anything when it comes to the quality and diversity of the food served by the company I belive to be the best of all the Nile Cruise companies. Sadly though on this cruise I was on – appreciation for the efforts of the crew seemed to be invisible and I won’t mention the nationality of our fellow cruisers to avoid international embarrassement 🙁 except to say I was the only Irish passenger and David was the only Australian – but we certainly showed our enjoyment at every meal 🙂
DO NOT BE AFRAID OF SALADS ON THE CRUISE – you will be missing out on wonderfull food for no good reason!
Here are just some examples of what I had for dinner and we could take as much as wanted – I can’t remember the names of the dishes so let me just explain that at every meal I took a sample of 4 or 5 of the dishes on offer and I think all the dinner options had a minimum of 3 meat dishes and assortment of vegetable, different kinds of rice and a selection of potatoes cooked in different ways……loved them all!! Prior to going to Egypt I had lost 7 kg weight but am returning home having regained every gram thanks to the wonderful food everywhere. I can’t pretend to be sad about this because every mouthful was worth the weight gained!
Exceptional food, relaxed and friendly atmosphere, attentive but unobtrusive staff meant we spent so much time enjoying the cruise, (eating, sleeping and visiting temples) that there was just no time to write up my blogs.
Now for the desserts and you can see where my muffin top came from!
In the last 14 years I have taken several Cruises on the Nile and had other holidays in between but honestly ….. if you want to relax, be pampered and forget there is a world outside – take a Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan with a great cruise line and it will be your most perfect experience!
