It sounds like something out of a dream—standing completely alone in the Great Pyramid of Giza, in the still of the night, after the crowds have gone and the desert has fallen silent. But this is no dream. With the right permissions, it’s possible. And I make it happen for my group tours – let me know if you want me to make it happen for yours.
But before you go any further – you need to clearly understand the difference between a Private Tour and a Private Visit/Time/Access. The difference is HUGE and so is the cost!
This is not a standard tourist experience. It’s not even a VIP group tour. This is private, exclusive access to the interior of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, outside official opening hours—just for my own private groups, with no one else inside.
For two full hours, sometime between 9 PM and 5 AM, we can be inside the heart of the Great Pyramid—uninterrupted, unhurried, and undisturbed. The King’s Chamber. The Grand Gallery. The Queens Chamber. The “Pit” or Subterranean Chamber”. Just us and the mysteries of millenia.
This Is Not a Loophole – It’s a Privilege
To do this, we must have official permission from:
-
The Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities, and
-
The Tourism Police, who open the pyramid specifically for our entry.
These permissions are not casually granted. They take time, money and trusted relationships to secure. But for those who want to experience Egypt beyond the surface, this is the closest thing to touching the soul of the ancient world.
What’s Included
-
Exclusive 2-hour private entry into the Great Pyramid of Khufu
-
Night-time access, completely outside of regular visiting hours
-
All necessary government permissions, arranged in advance
-
Private transport to and from our hotel in Cairo
-
Our knowledgeable Egyptologist guide, there to support, not intrude (mandatory)
-
Time for silence, reflection, meditation—or simply being present
-
Full entry fees, taxes, and service charges included
-
Bottled water provided for the journey
There is no access to the full plateau during this experience—this is about the pyramid itself, its chambers, and the rare quiet within its walls.
Also currently included in some of my group tours is similar Private Time in the closed area around the Sphinx (this is during daytime as the area is closed to the public who are limited to seeing the Sphinx from the elevate viewing platform) and the Osirion at Abydos Temple.
It is similarly possible to have private time inside or at any monument in Egypt under the same conditions, for the moment.
Pricing and Availability
This level of access is extremely limited, not only because of the cost but because there is a limited number of slots per day. The cost depends on the specific monument, date, and time requested. You may see different operators advertising different prices for this. That is because the price also depends on the operator – not every tour operator is on the approved list for obtaining the necessary permits at the moment. But as an average – for the Great Pyramid, pricing for one person starts at minimum $2,400, with an additional fee for each extra person.
Note: This does not mean the $2,400 is divided among the group and then a per-person fee is added—pricing is structured differently and depends on various logistical and administrative factors.
Because private visits are so expensive I include them as special features of some of my own small-group tours. My groups are capped at 15 people, and to make this private access affordable within the group’s overall price structure, I generally need that number.
What’s even more extraordinary is that this same permission process can be arranged for any monument in Egypt—whether it’s normally open to the public or not. This is something truly rare, and there’s no guarantee how long this opportunity will be available.
A Personal Note
I’ve visited the Great Pyramid many times over the last 24 years. I’ve stood in the King’s Chamber surrounded by chatter and crowds. And I’ve sat there alone, in silence. There’s a difference—and it’s a big one.
People often ask me, “Does the pyramid have energy?” I never try to answer that directly. I think it’s something you have to feel for yourself.
What I can say is this: when you’re inside it—truly alone, without noise, without interruptions—it becomes something else entirely. It’s an experience that moves past thought.
It’s a little like this…
Imagine… close your eyes and try to imagine being in a bright, crowded room full of people who are all meeting each other for the first time. Everyone is smiling, chatting, filling the space with light conversation. Then someone suggests you pair off with a partner. A few minutes pass. Then you’re asked to sit on the floor, back to back with that person—and the room goes completely dark.
At first, the smiles remain. Maybe you laugh, try to keep the mood light. But after a few minutes the room falls silent, you realise: there’s no one watching. No need to perform. No small talk left to cover the silence. And yet… you’re still in contact with the person behind you. Still present. Still connected.
That’s the shift. That’s what it feels like to be alone in a place like the Great Pyramid. The mask falls away.
What happens after that—well, that part is entirely up to you and how open you are to experience something…. else…
Everyone I’ve known who’s done it comes out changed in some way. Many are silent for hours. Some cry. Some laugh. But no one walks out unmoved. And the thing is… the experience can continue long after your time in the Gt. Pyramid or other sacred sites – they are all different and have different aspects that affect their visitors. Even people who are totally unaware that anything outside what they see, hear, feel or touch exists, people who feel nothing at the time – they will remember and feel the effects later – but they may never connect it to their Egyptian holiday.
